Event the most ardent supporter of Virginia football is probably getting a bit tired of all the hype surrounding Chris Long and his ascension up nearly ever mock draft. For once, there was praise from someone in the game, rather than the talking heads and draft “experts.” Long participated in linebacker drills for the first time publicly, in an attempt to showcase his versatility. Rams head coach Scott Linehan, who has the second overall pick, had this to say at Tuesday’s Pro Day in Charlottesville:
“I think you can’t go wrong with a player like this,” Linehan said of Long. “He’s got an unbelievable amount of football ability, but his character on top of that is unbelievable. When you get that type of package, you’re looking at a guy who’s going to impact a team right away.”
April will reveal whether this is truly infatuation, or if Linehan is simply goading the Dolphins into picking Long…
In other Pro Day news, Nate Lyles and Tom Santi posed some impressive numbers working out on their home turf, and Branden Albert worked out with Joe Bugel.
